ABOUT THE STUDY PROGRAM OF PHARMACY Pharmacy is closely related to the medicinal process in the body, the ways of synthesizing and the reactions resulting from medicines. It is also applied to produce medicines from natural ingredients. It is one of professional fields of health and combines health sciences and chemistry. It is responsible for making sure that medicines are effectively and safely used. The scope of pharmaceutical practice includes the traditional pharmaceutical practice such as compounding and providing medicinal preparations, and the modern pharmaceutical services which are related to the patient care such as clinical services, efficacy evaluation and the safety of medicinal use, and the preparation of information on medicines. Pharmacy cannot be separated from the field of health closely related to and the efforts to prepare medicinal products. Historically, the higher education of pharmacy in Indonesia was established to produce pharmacists as those responsible for pharmacies. The fast development of pharmaceutical science has caused career opportunities for pharmacists to be much wider. They can be employed in pharmacies, research institutions, quality testing laboratories, clinical laboratories, forensic laboratories, different industries such as the medicinal industry, cosmetic-cosmeseutical industry, medicinal herb industry, herbal medicinal industry, phytopharmaca industry, nutraceutical industry, healthy foods industry, veterinary medicinal industry, vaccine industry, the institutions preparing information on medicines, and health insurance agencies.
